5 Questions with DJ Nebraska
1. What’s your sun, moon and rising sign?
I’m Gemini sun, Gemini moon, and Scorpio rising. But apparently my Vedic chart classifies me as double Taurus ;)
2. Where’s your favorite place to connect with Mother Earth?
There’s no place like home in the desert!!
3. What does Divine Feminine mean to you?
Divine feminine is the Goddess within all of us. It is the interconnectedness of our wombs and the womb of the Earth and the Divine mother. Our sacred role as creators and givers of life. It is our sensuality, our sensitivity, our strength, our role as protectors and guardians of our families and of the Earth.
4. Is music a spiritual practice for you? How so?
Absolutely. Music is my way of connecting to source. It’s like meditating. Some days I can tap in and get directly into the flow. Others not. That’s practice :) Whether creating or performing, there’s a magic when it clicks. I always try to meditate and tap in before a performance, to try to connect to the other musicians and the people I’m performing for. It is a divine moment when you realize everyone is connected and aligned with source energy and it is all flowing directly through you. It’s almost like I’m no longer in control of the music - I’m just the vessel that it’s flowing through.
5. What does your meditation practice look like and what does it bring to your life?
I’ve had a steady meditation practice for almost 15 years now and it’s always evolving. I started out with Kundalini, so those mantras feel like home and I like to go back to them. I’ve always enjoyed working with mantras and guided meditations. I did Deepak Chopra’s Abundance challenge 3 times in the past 6 months!
More recently I’ve been into just sitting in silence and tapping in with no guidance or time limits. Just working to clear my mind, body, and spirit of all thoughts, patterns, and behaviors that no longer serve my highest and best. I like to move energy around by visualizing light and frequencies, working to align my inner essence with celestial and earthly energy. Sometimes I channel emotional states in their highest form. For example, what would abundance feel like when coming directly from source energy, what would love look like? Alignment? Safety? Purpose? Etc…. I’ve been doing some guided visualizations with a Reiki master so a lot of my recent practice has been inspired by these journeys. Basically, I just tap in and try to align with the flow of source energy and release everything that I’ve been holding onto that is getting in the way of that.
